It’s Not the Injury, It’s How Your Body Responds

I’m 67, and I don’t approach health in the usual way.

On the 26th of January, I was working late.

Around 12:30 at night, I was going down the stairs… and I missed the last step.

Not very graceful.

The result?

Two fractures in my right foot.

I was told I needed to wear an orthopaedic boot for six weeks.

Fair enough.

But what struck me was not the injury.

It was the recovery.

It was much faster than expected.

That didn’t happen by chance.

It’s the same approach I took years ago with my thyroid, when I chose to step back, listen to my body, and take a different path.

During that time, I also made a very conscious choice.

I did not take anti-inflammatories or medication for swelling or pain.

Not out of resistance, but because I trust how my body responds when it is properly supported.

Instead, I focused on what I have always done.

Nourishing my body with real, nutrient-dense food.
Supporting recovery through rest and balance.
Working with my body, not against it.

And it reminded me of something I see again and again.

Health is not tested when everything is going well.

It’s tested when something goes wrong.

The real question is not just “what do you do when something happens?”

It’s:

What condition is your body in before it happens?

Because that determines how you respond.

How you recover.
How you adapt.

This is why I focus so much on longevity and metabolic health.

Not for aesthetics.
Not for quick results.

But so that your body is strong, supported, and ready to deal with whatever life throws at it.

This is how I live.

And this is what I see in the people I work with.
