There was a time when getting out of bed in the morning was not simple.
I would wake up with stiff joints.
My feet were so painful that I had to sit on the edge of the bed before I could even begin to move.
My hands were no better.
It would often take a couple of hours before I felt able to start my day.
At the time, I did not fully understand what was happening to my body.
I only knew that something was not right.
A Moment I Could Not Ignore
One Saturday evening, I was at the theatre.
I was wearing boots.
By the interval, the pain in my feet had become unbearable.
We had to leave early.
I remember crying because the pain was so intense.
That was the moment I realised I could not ignore it any longer.
The Diagnosis
I decided to see a specialist in Harley Street.
After a series of tests, he confirmed the diagnosis:
fibromyalgia.
He suggested an injection that, he explained, would relieve the pain within 48 hours.
There were two challenges for me.
A strong fear of needles and a deep reluctance to rely on medication.
After more than an hour of reassurance, I agreed.
A Temporary Solution
The result was immediate.
Within a couple of days, I was pain free.
But a few months later, the pain returned.
I was back where I started.
A Turning Point
That experience forced me to make a decision.
I could continue to rely on temporary solutions, or I could take a different path.
I chose to take responsibility for my health.
Not through extremes, but through understanding my body, my habits and the daily choices that influence how we feel and how we age.
Why This Matters for Longevity
Longevity is not only about living longer.
It is about maintaining quality of life.
Experiencing that level of pain made one thing very clear:
Health cannot be left to chance.
It is shaped by what we do consistently, every day.
A Message for You
If you are reading this and you are living with fibromyalgia, you will understand how difficult it can be.
You may also recognise the feeling of looking for answers.
Sometimes the most important question is not “What is the quickest solution?”
but
“What is my body trying to tell me?”
Because that is where real, lasting change begins.
If this speaks to you, you may be wondering what I changed and how I approached it naturally. I would be happy to share more.
