You Don’t Get to 63 and Suddenly Become “Broken”

Silvia’s Story Should Not Be Normal

Silvia is 63.

For the last 14 years, she has been living with severe IBS.

Not the kind people casually mention.
The kind that keeps you in bed.

Excruciating pain.
Cramps.
Constant diarrhoea.

The kind where you start to feel relieved when you are constipated.

Let that sink in.

She had to give up her nursing career. A career she loved.
She cancels plans. Holidays. Life, really.

And after spending over £20,000 on private tests, one of the last doctors said:

“Maybe it’s time to see a nutritionist.”

We Wait Until the Body Breaks

When Silvia and I spoke, the first thing she asked me was my age.

I told her I was 66 at the time.

Her jaw dropped.

During our conversation, I also shared something very personal.

I reversed my hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia with diet alone.

No medication.

Just food. Lifestyle. Consistency.

She paused and said, almost to herself:

“I should have focused on my nutrition…”

Yes, Silvia.

That is exactly what you should have done.

Here is the uncomfortable truth.

We wait until things fall apart before we look at what we are eating.

We outsource our health:

  • to medication
  • to injections
  • to endless tests

Silvia was also put on Mounjaro to lose weight.

She lost some.

Then she gained it back.

Because that is what happens when we treat symptoms without addressing the root.

At 67, I take no medication.

But more importantly, my body is always in repair mode.

So when life does not play fair, my body knows how to respond.

It recovers.

I have seen this in my own life, again and again.

This is not luck.

This is not genetics.

This is how the body works when it is supported properly.

You do not wake up at 63 and suddenly become “broken”.

The body has been speaking for years.

Quietly at first.

Then louder.

Until it can no longer be ignored.

It Is Time to Look in the Right Place

If you are reading this and you recognise yourself in Silvia’s story…

If your body has been trying to get your attention for years…

Then perhaps it is time to stop looking everywhere else and start looking at what you are feeding it.

Not in a complicated way.

Not in an extreme way.

But in a way that brings your body back into balance.

Because your body is not working against you.

It is asking for support.

Prevention is better than cure always.
