When Did We Stop Looking After Ourselves?

I keep seeing the same pattern… and it’s worrying.

Something I Can’t Ignore

I keep seeing people I know on social media.

People who, not that long ago, were slim, active, and took care of themselves.

Now in their 40s… and things have changed.

You know who you are.

This is not a criticism.

It’s a genuine concern.

Because there is a pattern.

A Conversation That Stayed With Me

Yesterday I met a 44-year-old woman in a coffee shop.

She told me she had just started Mounjaro 3 days ago.

Then, almost in the same breath, she showed me the Imodium she had to buy in a hurry.

She asked me what I eat.

When I told her, she said she chose the injection because she didn’t want to think about food.

She didn’t want to be disciplined.

This Is Where We’ve Got It Wrong

I don’t see myself as disciplined.

I eat simple food.

Fresh, mostly plant-based.

I cook what I eat.

That’s it.

I’m not deprived.

I’m happy in myself.

And I have energy.

What Are We Eating Every Day?

Let’s be honest.

Steak and chips is not an everyday meal.

A roast dinner is not an everyday meal.

And yet for some people… it is.

Day after day.

And then we wonder why things start to change.

The Body Keeps Score

We now understand more than ever.

Too much animal protein, too often, can accelerate ageing.

Excess weight, especially around the stomach, is not just about appearance.

It is the most dangerous type of fat.

It surrounds vital organs.

And over time, it puts them under pressure.

This Is Not About Blame

If you are reading this, this is not about judgement.

It is about awareness.

Because the body will give you signals.

And if we ignore them…

At some point, the decision to look after yourself will be made for you.

The Bigger Reality

Look at what is happening.

The National Health Service is under pressure.

Appointments take time.

Conditions like type 2 diabetes are rising.

Even in children.

And much of this comes back to one thing.

Lifestyle.

A Choice We Still Have

Surely it is easier to take responsibility now.

Before things escalate.

Before medication becomes the only option.

Before the body forces you to stop.

A Simple Truth

This does not need to be complicated.

Simple food.

More plants.

Cook more.

Move more.

Pay attention.

A Final Thought

If you are reading this, take a moment.

Look at what you are doing to your body.

And ask yourself honestly…

Is this sustainable?

Because small changes now can prevent much bigger problems later.

Prevention is better than cure always
